he Following are the LFYAA GYM RULES for Winter Basketball … PLEASE COMPLY… We do not want to abuse our privilege to use the Gym Facilities.

Basketball Gym Rules             December 1, 2009

Due to some very serious problems, which have occurred last year and this year, the County Recreation & Parks and the School Board of Education personnel are monitoring our Basketball program very closely. Remember that we are guests in these facilities and we have no right to destroy or permit others to destroy these facilities. We ask that all parents and spectators, as well as coaches, help us by respecting all gym facilities. This can be done by following some very simple, basic rules :

1)                  Players and parents are NOT allowed in the gyms until game time. There are other programs, which use these facilities, and their time MUST be respected.

2)                  Parents are responsible for their children. Be mindful of what your children are doing at all times. This means that NO Children should be running through the halls or horsing around in the building at any time for any reason. No one (other than the coach) should bring basketballs in to the gym facility. It is very distracting for the players when other children are bouncing or rolling balls on the sidelines. If you see this happening, you should inform the individual(s) that this is our "Policy" and it has the backing of the entire Basketball Board and the LFYAA organization. If anyone is caught with a basketball (other than the team players with their coach), they will be asked to leave the gym.

3)                  The Custodian is in charge of the gym facility. If you are asked to leave the building, please leave without incident. Our Basketball program is a guest at these facilities… and we should respect the facilities and the people who manage them. If you encounter anyone in any part of the building without parental supervision, then please ask what they are doing and why. There is no reason for children to be in any part of the building except the gym area. No one is permitted to enter any classroom at any time for any reason. Children (and adults), who are caught wandering around the building, will be asked to leave the building (period).

4)                  The managers of the teams playing the first game in the gym are responsible for all set up activities, i.e., setting up tables and chairs (if available), clock and scoreboard, etc. The managers of the teams playing the last game in the gym are responsible for close down activities, i.e., putting away tables and chairs, clock and scoreboard, general clean up of facility, etc. It is NOT the responsibility of the League VP or Sports Commissioner to do these tasks. All parents should volunteer to assist the team managers with pre-game and post-game activities. Our volunteer managers are helping your children. They should not have to clean up for your children

5)                  Each team MUST have a parent to help at the scorer’s table with the clock and scoreboard.

6)                  For the safety of the players, insure that all "non-primary" entrance doors are closed and locked. All players, coaches, parents and spectators should enter and exit via one (1) door.
